Difference Between Solar Cell and Solar Panel

The working voltage of the solar cell is about 0.5V, and generally it cannot be used as a power source alone. After the solar cell is encapsulated in series and parallel, it becomes a solar panel, and its power is generally from several watts to tens of watts, which can be used alone as a power source. According to the different needs of customers, solar panels can be customized to make specific voltage and power.

According to the different encapsulation methods, solar panels can be divided into glass laminated solar panels and ETFE laminated solar panels. The structure of tempered glass solar panel is: tempered glass, EVA, solar cell, EVA, back sheet. The structure of ETFE solar panel is: ETFE film, EVA, solar cell, PCB.

Tempered glass solar panels are characterized by their robustness and longevity, allowing them to be used in harsh environments. ETFE solar panels are thin and light, and their service life is usually 5-7 years.

According to the type of solar cells, solar panels can be divided into amorphous silicon solar panels and crystalline silicon solar panels. Among them, crystalline silicon solar panels are further divided into monocrystalline silicon solar panels and polycrystalline silicon solar panels.

The conversion efficiency of amorphous silicon solar panels is low, only about 7%-10%, while the conversion efficiency of crystalline silicon solar panels can reach about 20% or more.
